Description: Hemoproteins play essential roles in various biological systems, including free-heme scavenging, oxygen transport, electron transfer, and catalysis. The complex nature of hemoproteins—particularly their bound and unbound states—has made bioanalysis and the understanding of related binding cascades challenging. By applying newly developed bioanalytical methods and corroborating data across complementary assays, we are beginning to gain a clearer picture of the binding dynamics between hemoproteins and free heme.
