Description: Through the use of specific case studies, this presentation will address some of the challenges on how to successfully scale-up these complex formulations. This presentation will discuss examples of formulation and scale-up encounters faced, lessons learned and implemented solutions from various molecule types (small molecules, peptides, peptides) and various release profiles ranging from 3 days to 1 year.

Learning Objectives:

  • Case study 1 showing an example of scale-up of a peptide formulation. Detailing how different variables such as polymer type, drug load, and polymer IV impact the final formulation. Also showing detailed SEM images of in vitro release.
  • Case Study 2 showing an example of scale-up of a hydrophobic small molecule. Detailing how different variables impact the final formulation specifically detailed SEM images of in vitro release.
  • Case Study 3 showing an example of scale-up of a small molecule. Detailing why and how to perform solvent exposure studies on small scale to mimic large scale batches.
