Professor
Oregon State University
Gaurav Sahay, Ph.D. is a Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Oregon State University and co-Director of the Center for Innovative Drug Delivery and Imaging (CIDDI). He is internationally recognized for pioneering lipid-based nanoparticle (LNP) systems for nucleic acid therapeutics, with applications spanning genetic diseases, infectious diseases, and oncology. Dr. Sahay leads multidisciplinary teams developing next-generation RNA delivery technologies, including targeted and endosomally optimized LNPs.
His research has secured major funding from the NIH, DARPA, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and industry partners such as Novo Nordisk and has in multiple high-impact publications including in Nature Communications, JACS, and ACS Nano, and patents licensed to biotechnology companies. As principal investigator for DARPA’s HERMES program (TALARIA project), he directs efforts to create medical countermeasures for ionizing radiation and infectious threats, integrating expertise from primate models to clinical translation.
Dr. Sahay is deeply committed to mentorship, having trained a diverse group of scientists who have advanced to leadership roles in academia and industry. His work has been recognized through numerous awards, and his vision continues to push the boundaries of RNA delivery science toward transformative therapies.
