Paul W S Heng, B Sc (Pharm) Hons, PhD
Dr Paul W S Heng obtained his basic and doctorate degrees from the National University of Singapore (NUS). He then joined NUS Pharmacy and taught pharmaceutical science and technology for over three decades. He served as Head of Department, 2000-2004 and founded GEA-NUS Pharmaceutical Processing Research Laboratory in 1997, a research laboratory with scalable industrial equipment for solids process and manufacture. Dr Heng had served in several educational, administrative and professional committees along with several visiting professorships. His research interest is in pharmaceutical technology, related particularly to OSDs: particulates, pellets and tablets. He has expertise with excipients, encapsulation, controlled release and inhalable systems. In academia, he has successfully graduated over 60 PhD students, several masters students, published over 340 international refereed research journal articles and has also written several book chapters and patents. He is the editor-in-chief of the Asian J Pharm Sci and is in the editorial boards of several other journals. In 2022, he retired from NUS and is now an Honorary Fellow of NUS. In 2019, he co-founded One North Pharmaceutical Research Institute, a pharmaceutical technology hub for contract research where he is now its Scientific Director.
