Catherine A. Opere, is a professor of Pharmacy Sciences at Creighton University School of Pharmacy and Health Professions, Omaha, NE. Her research interests include studies on the regulation of sympathetic and retinal excitatory neurotransmission by oxidative stress and its metabolites of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids; role of hydrogen sulfide in ocular diseases (e.g glaucoma, cataracts); and the development of innovative, slow-release hydrogen sulfide donor formulations that can achieve sustainable concentrations in the anterior and posterior segments of the eye. In collaboration with others, her research has been funded by intramural and extramural (NIH) sources. She has co-authored 75 articles in peer-reviewed journals, several book chapters and made over 200 presentations at local, regional, national and international forums.
