Dr. Jim Shen is the Executive Director and Head of Regulated and Mass Spectrometry within the Precision Medicine, Bioanalytical & Translational Sciences (PMBATS) department at Bristol-Myers Squibb. He holds a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Arizona and a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Texas at Austin, where he conducted research under the mentorship of Professor Jennifer Brodbelt.
With more than 25 years of experience in the global life sciences industry, Dr. Shen has held multiple leadership roles across top pharmaceutical organizations, including Schering-Plough, Merck, and Bristol-Myers Squibb. He brings deep expertise in regulated bioanalytical operations, GLP-compliant laboratory management, and bioanalytical outsourcing strategies.
Dr. Shen is a respected thought leader in the field of regulated bioanalysis and mass spectrometry. He is an active contributor to professional organizations such as AAPS, ASMS, CPSA, EAS, and ACS. He currently serves as Chair of the AAPS Bioanalytical Community and leads the AAPS ADC Bioanalysis Working Group. In addition to his leadership and scientific contributions, Dr. Shen is a prolific author with numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences.
