Senior Scientific Advisor & Head of Mechanistic Oral Absorption Modelling
Certara Predictive Technologies, Certara UK Limited
Sheffield, England, United Kingdom
David B Turner PhD is Senior Scientific Advisor and Head of Mechanistic Oral Absorption Modelling at Certara Predictive Technologies. As the title suggests his work at Simcyp has mainly focussed upon oral absorption modelling within a PBPK framework but also on physico-chemical aspects of PBPK modelling including tissue distribution and QSAR models. He has a particular interest in mechanistic modelling of in vitro biopharmaceutic experiments to better parameterise and add confidence to in vivo PBPK models and in this regard was instrumental in the development of the solubility and dissolution aspects of the Simcyp In Vitro data (SIVA) Analysis toolkit back in 2014. David has been PI or co-PI for several FDA grants including development of modelling tools for handling supersaturating drug products and a project to model locally acting drugs in the GI tract including virtual bioequivalence assessments. He has a Biochemistry BSc, a Computer Science MSc, and a PhD in Chemoinformatics and QSAR modelling all obtained at Sheffield University, UK. Prior to joining Simcyp he worked in a Computational Chemistry Group (Synt:em SA, Nîmes, France) focussed mainly upon high throughput in silico discovery and virtual screening projects. He is author or co-author on 46 peer-reviewed papers.
