Dr. Thakkar is an esteemed Senior Research Scientist at CDER's Office of Translational Sciences (OTS) and Office of Computational Sciences (OCS), where her pivotal roles include leading and principal investigation for mission-critical projects. Her primary research interests revolve around harnessing bioinformatics, chemoinformatics, Artificial Intelligence (A.I.), and Machine Learning, coupled with data analytics, to advance biomarker discovery, drug safety, pharmacogenomics/toxicogenomics, and precision medicine. Presently, her focus lies in employing these multidisciplinary approaches to delve into the realms of toxicity and drug development, with a particular emphasis on drug-induced liver injury. Dr. Thakkar's accomplishments are reflected in her portfolio, which comprises over 40 peer-reviewed publications, 3 book chapters,18 U.S. and international patent applications. In addition to her research contributions, she has played key leadership roles in numerous national and international scientific societies. Notably, within the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), she served on the Board as a Member at Large from 2020-22 and currently holds positions as Vice Chair for the Career Development Committee and the Regulatory Science Committee. Dr. Thakkar's dedication and leadership continue to drive advancements in her field, ultimately shaping the future of drug development, safety, and precision medicine.
