Shanghao Li, PhD

Dr. Shanghao Li, Ph.D., is the International Marketing Associate Director at WuXi AppTec, where he advances the scientific communication and strategic integration of preclinical research services, with a focus on Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK). His role bridges technical disciplines—including DMPK, bioanalysis, and toxicology—to support global drug development programs from early discovery through IND-enabling studies.

Dr. Li earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Miami, where his research focused on nanomaterials and targeted drug delivery systems. He has authored over 40 peer-reviewed scientific publications and has contributed to the development of novel analytical methods in protein characterizations in its conjugation with nanomaterials and therapeutic delivery. In addition to his research contributions, Dr. Li serves as a peer reviewer for high-impact scientific journals and is actively involved in professional organizations such as the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS), SoCal Association for Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Advancements (SABPA), and the American Chemical Society (ACS), where he participates in scientific committees and programming initiatives. At WuXi AppTec, he collaborates with scientists to develop technical content, deliver educational initiatives, and support the scientific community’s understanding of emerging challenges in areas such as peptide and oligonucleotide pharmacokinetics, metabolite identification, and bioanalytical strategy.
