Sravan Patel, PhD is an Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh and an Investigator at Magee-Womens Research Institute, with expertise in drug delivery, translational product development, and women’s health. He holds a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from BITS Pilani, India, an MS degree from the University of Georgia, Athens and a PhD from Duquesne University. His research has spanned the areas of medicinal chemistry, drug delivery, diagnostic imaging, and translational product development. Over the past decade, his research has been focused on addressing critical women’s health issues, including HIV and STI prevention, contraception, and endometriosis, through innovative drug delivery strategies that are translatable, affordable, and acceptable. Dr. Patel has been an active member of AAPS community leadership where he served as learning opportunities manager and secretary for Nanotechnology community, and currently serves as a vice chair for modified release community. He is also a delegate for USP convention.
