Janine Schwedes, JD, MBA is currently serving as Deputy General Counsel supporting licensing and Intellectual Property at Flatiron Health, a health technology company. Prior to joining Flatiron, Janine held the role of Senior Corporate Counsel at Astellas, and prior to Astellas served as Senior Director, Legal at Roivant Sciences and also served as Senior Counsel at Axovant Gene Therapies. Before empbracing the law, though. Janine's career began in the labs, at the Northport VA Medical Center as a Research Scientist investigating the role of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in cancer invasion and metastasis. She moved on to OSI Pharmaceuticals as a protein biochemist working in Drug Discovery and was involved in the discovery and development of Tarceva®, one of the first targeted therapies for NSCLC. Janine holds a JD from St. John's University School of Law, an MBA in Technology Management from the University of Phoenix, and a BA in Biochemistry from Rice University.
