Our research interests are at the chemistry-biology interface aiming to understand 1) protein-small molecule interaction at solid-liquid interface and in solution and 2) the relationships between protein structure, dynamics, and function upon the ligand binding by biological, chemical, biophysical, and structural methods. The project involved in this presentation is the crystallization control and molecular recognition of industrially important molecules, such as nucleosides and carbohydrates, by natural proteins (e.g., antifreeze proteins/ice-binding proteins) and traslation of the research findings to solve problems in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, food, sugar, and materials industries.
