Research Assistant
Howard University
Adebisi Abiodun Adeleke is a third-year Ph.D. candidate in Pharmaceutical Sciences at Howard University, specializing in pharmaceutics and novel drug delivery systems. His doctoral research focuses on niosomal drug delivery platforms for colorectal cancer, including co-encapsulation strategies, peptide-based active targeting, and functionalized nanocarriers. He has hands-on expertise in cell culture, peptide synthesis, drug release kinetics, organoid modeling, and RNA sequencing analysis.
Adebisi has conducted research at leading institutions, including MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he worked on developing drug-resistant colorectal cancer models and organoid cultures. His prior work at Obafemi Awolowo University, Nigeria, explored drug delivery through suppositories and microspheres, resulting in multiple publications.
He is a recipient of the prestigious Edward Alexander Bouchet Doctoral Research Fellowship and a globally competitive ISPE Foundation Grant—awarded to only 24 scholars worldwide. He has attended and presented his research at international conferences, including the 18th National Conference of the Nigerian Association of Pharmacists in Academia, International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers (ISPE) Annual Conference, Florida (2024).
Beyond the lab, Adebisi actively contributes to professional communities as a member of AAPS, ISPE, and the Parenteral Drug Association (PDA). He also serves as Public Relations Officer of the AAPS Howard University Student Chapter. Passionate about mentorship and community service, he has judged science fairs in the U.S. and facilitated drug abuse prevention programs in Nigeria.
His research interests center on drug delivery and targeted therapy with a focus on nanomedicine and innovative therapeutic strategies to address unmet needs in cancer treatment.
