Dr. Bashir M. Dweik is a seasoned biostatistics leader with over 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical and vaccine industry, specializing in biomarker research, assay development, validation, and regulatory strategy. He currently serves as Director of Biomarker Statistics at Moderna, where he drives statistical innovation and oversight for biomarker development in support of translational medicine and clinical programs.
Previously, Dr. Dweik held senior leadership roles at Sanofi Vaccines R&D, where he directed global teams, shaped regulatory submissions, and represented the company in industry collaborations and scientific consortia. He has a strong track record of guiding late-phase clinical testing, establishing best practices, and advancing assay and biomarker science across global research sites.
In addition to his industry contributions, Dr. Dweik has an extensive academic background, having taught statistics and mathematics at universities in the United States, the Middle East, and online graduate programs. His research and publications include work on dengue and Japanese encephalitis vaccines, presented at international scientific conferences and in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Dweik earned his Ph.D. in Statistics from American University in Washington, D.C., and is an active member of professional societies including the American Statistical Association and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics.
