Shangjie Lian, MSc, is a PhD Researcher in Pharmaceutics at the School of Pharmacy, Queen’s University Belfast. His doctoral work centres on advanced drug delivery, particularly electrospun nanofibre platforms for the stabilisation and controlled delivery of biopharmaceuticals in chronic wound healing. He develops blend and coaxial electrospinning strategies using polymeric matrices to modulate release, improve drug stability, and enhance antimicrobial efficacy where appropriate. His methodological expertise spans polymer processing, analytical and thermal characterisation, and in vitro performance testing including release kinetics and microbiology models. Shangjie has presented his findings at international meetings, including a poster at UKICRS, and has published in the International Journal of Pharmaceutics and the European Journal of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics. His broader interests include translation of scalable manufacturing approaches and quality by design principles for nanofibre-based medicines. He aims to bridge laboratory innovation with clinical needs in diabetic wound care and related topical delivery applications.
