Amusa S. Adebayo’s current research focus is on nanotechnology-based passive-active translational drug delivery to colorectal cancer cells. He has a broad background in pharmaceutical sciences with specific training and expertise in pharmaceutical technology incorporating development of novel polymeric materials of plant or synthetic origin, their characterization and application in drug delivery and targeting. He is currently an Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmaceutics) and Interim Vice Chair of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Howard University College of Pharmacy (HUCOP). Previously, he successfully led the development of the M.Phil. Pharmaceutics program and developed the research infrastructure at University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech, Ja), and mentored several MPhil (Pharmaceutics) graduates. He served as the Head of School of Pharmacy & Health Sciences (UTech) and midwifed the transition of the school to four independent schools between 2007 and 2009. He received his B. Pharm and MBA degrees from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria and his PhD (Pharmaceutics & Industrial Pharmacy) from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He also holds the MSc in Health Informatics degree of the University of Illinois, Chicago and Certificate in Data Science & Visualization from the Northwestern University, Evanston, IL. He is a co-author of “Hard Shell Capsules in Clinical Trials. In Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms (pp. 31-74). CRC Press. He has published research articles in many reputed journals and presented research findings at many scientific meetings.
Amusa has received President’s Research Initiative Award of the University of Technology, Jamaica, The Biggest Heart Faculty Award of the Roosevelt University College of Pharmacy and the Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award of the HUCOP. He is a member of the AAPS and the American Association for Cancer Research.
